New job update!

My sincerest apologies for not posting anything so far this week. I started a new job on Monday as many of you know. I've had such a great first few days and it's been quite a whirlwind! On Monday morning I arrived for orientation at the HR office. It was quite dry and standard stuff. It took all of the morning.

Afterward I headed over to the building where I office. Upon my arrival I had a sign with my name on it welcoming me to the team! This was very cool as on my floor are three departments, one of them marketing. I get to keep the sign, it was classic marketing! Gotta love it!

The first few days I've been there have been really getting my bearings and reading over all of the policies and procedures. I've been going through the process of getting my security clearance (which is quite and in depth process) and other training. It's been good and the environment is so different than what I'm used to. The best change is the commute. I used to drive almost an hour each way to and from work. (I only had this drive after I got married and moved into my husband's house.) This week, my drive has been about twenty minutes each way. Maybe twenty five if it's a bit backed up. And, my new workday begins at 8:30, not 8:00 but 8:30. That means I can get up at seven in the morning! Not six or six-thirty, but 7 a.m!

Another big difference - the dress code actually says business casual. My husband laughed at me this morning when I was complaining about not knowing what to wear. Oh, and we wear jeans on Fridays! Huh? This is going to take some getting used to, definitely. What do you all wear to work? I'm wondering if I just got so used to an environment that was so formal (and/or stuffy) that I'm having a bit of culture shock. I'm enjoying the more relaxed atmosphere and glad to back at work. It's been quite and adjustment to work all day long though. :)

Have a great week everyone!
