Weekend update and belated birthday gift

As many of you know my father in law came to visit over the weekend. Well, this past May was my birthday and he and hubby's stepmother forgot it. I wasn't worried about it to be honest. But I think he felt bad and he wanted to get me a gift. This lovely item has been on my Amazon Wish List for a while and my husband suggested it.
It's a smaller version of a classic chef's knife; it's 6 inches instead of 8 and it's so wonderful for those of us with smaller hands. I love how it handles and got lots of time to break it in and get used to it on Saturday when we had some friends over for dinner.

Bourbon and Maple poached Salmon
Mushroom Risotto
Lemon and Tarragon carrots
Caprese Salad (our friends brought this)
Garlic cheese biscuits
Nutella marble cake with strawberries and whipped cream

Oh, and I made ceviche which had lots of chopping as well! We ate very well this weekend!
