Are there certain social norms that drive you crazy? Yes? Let's be friends, shall we?
The following are a few social practices I'd like to see changed. Will you indulge me for a bit?
I would prefer it if
- cashiers would hand you change in this order- coins, then bills. I'm not coordinated enough to slide my coins into my change pocket.
- sales people would stop giving you their pitch as soon as you say, "No, thank you." I said it politely, don't make me be rude. This applies to telemarketers as well as those people in the mall kiosks.
- you would leave your phone number twice on my voicemail if the following applies to you: you are a fast talker and/or I don't know you.
- you are going to the trouble to ask for my ID that you actually look at my face. If I was to steal a wallet, hypothetically, of course!) I'm pretty sure it would have credit cards and a photo ID in it. I'm just sayin...
- that if you ask me my name you don't correct my pronunciation of it. I'm pretty sure I know how to say my name.
- on the same note, that if you misspell my name you not blame me. I also, shockingly, know how to spell my name.
- you announced your presence upon entering my cube. It's only polite, yes? Oh? And, please don't sit on my desk. Thanks.
I'm sure there are others to add to this list, but I'll just start here. I'd love to hear yours...

Ha! Good points! One of my pet peeves is people who try to rush onto an elevator without giving the people on it a chance to get off.
Great blog topic! I ALWAYS wish that cashiers would give the change first! I just don't understand why they put them on TOP of the bills so that they can fall!
When you mentioned the sales people giving their pitch...it reminded me about last week when my friend and I walked in to Victoria's Secret. We both are *ahem* "well taken care of" on top. This lady starts giving us the pitch about their new bra that adds 2 cup sizes. We laughed and said, "uh, no...we're doing fine in that area!" She proceeds to follow us around the store and then asks if we would like to try it on! Um, NO! HELLO???
Craziness!! :)
I agree! I'd also like to ask that people not hover over me in my cubicle, and that people hold the elevator for me from time to time. :-)
I cannot STAND when cashiers give me my dollars first and then coins. AHHHH! Please make it easy for me!
This is a great list :-)
The change thing drives me mad! I'm so glad I'm not the only one - I thought I was just being difficult. I hate it!
