So, I have to tell you all that Julie at Wearing Mascara truly inspired me tonight. She wrote a post that was SO honest and SO open that it was very moving to me. The truth of the matter is I can relate to her post. For years, my weight wasn't an issue to me. I felt healthy and figured that was most important.
Fast forward to just over a year of marriage and I've definitely put on some "happy pounds". I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I've really been feeling it lately. I mean, I'm certain my wedding dress would not fit me if I tried at this point. My love of cooking has not helped this either.
I've tried Weight Watchers in the past and it didn't really work for me. (It's possible I didn't have enough to lose and believe me, now, I do.) However, I'm thinking that since a big part of their program is the ten percent goal and losing ten percent of my weight now would be such a change for me that I might try it again. Have any of you been successful on Weight Watchers? And, I don't mean like the people on the commercials. I really and truly mean have you been able to lose your ten percent? Also, did you prefer the meetings in person or the online version?
Basically, it comes down to this: I just need to get healthy again, no matter the weight I end up being. I need to feel stronger and gain more energy.
While we're on that topic do any of you have recommendations for healthy, fitness-ish blogs. Not running focused. I have terrible knees and will never, I repeat never be a runner. It's just not going to happen. I'd really like to find some good walking blogs. And, I need to quit eating so much of the yummy, yummy food I cook. (Anyone want to come over and take this leftover Mac 'n Cheese off our hands?)
Your suggestions are so very welcome!

I need to be better about eating right and exercising too. I definitely have some weight to lose. Like you said, I am NOT a runner... Lately, I've been trying to do some walking on the treadmill and some stationary bike. The elliptical is good too - but hard, at least for me. :)
I don't have any fitness blogs to recommend to you - you might could try googling it? But, I did do Weight Watchers a few years ago and lost 30 pounds. WW is incredibly motivating to me because someone else sees whether or not I lost weight when I weigh-in. Also, having to write down my food is a good way to keep myself accountable. Anyway, the main point is that I think it's worth it to try and I think it's a great program - it definitely worked for me.
Awww thanks so much! I'm glad I inspired you. It means so much.
I will keep my eye out for blogs that don't focus on running and more on walking. If you find some, let me know! :-)
