Oh Happy Day!

I've been a bad blogger. Please accept my apologies. I've been very busy and have been much too tired to get online when I get home. That being said I have to tell you about the highlight of this past weekend in Atlanta.

We made it to Woodfire Grill! I wrote in this post about how much I wanted to go eat here.
Well, after learning we had dinner plans both nights I was bummed (as you know). So, Friday morning we were talking to Hubby's cousin and she told us to go on Saturday since it was a casual dinner and we could meet up with them afterward. So, we go to OpenTable.com to make the reservation. They didn't have any. OK, I guess it's not meant to be. Maybe we'll just show up at five o'clock when they open and hope to get a table.

Fast forward to Friday night, we're having dinner at my husband's family's house and his cousins wife mentioned she knows the hostess at Woodfire. So, I tell her how much I wanted to go and she offers to make a call. Ahhhh! OK, don't get your hopes up, Sara.

A few minutes later the husband tells me she got us a 7:30 reservation! I was SO excited. I'll admit it.

So, we arrive and everyone there was so wonderful. We decided to order the chef's tasting menu and were not disappointed. This was the menu (as best as I can remember):

First course: Duck egg over al dente vegetables with a tomato broth
Second course: Sea scallop with a fennel sauce and white bean puree
Third course: Quail with honey glaze and a vegetable (that slips my mind)
Fourth course: Lamb tenderloin with brussel sprouts
Fifth course: I had a deconstructed key lime pie that was heavenly and he had something with bananas, but I can't remember, sorry.

Now, I should tell you that I've never in my entire life eaten lamb. Ever. And, I used to be a vegetarian. But, I have to say, it was really good. My husband was so excited bout me eating it, and liking it, that he went onto Facebook to shout it from the rooftops.

Me and Chef Kevin
Yes, I had to meet the chef. He was out in the restaurant (sort of) by the actual wood grill. Lots of people were complimenting him and getting photos taken. I was a bit star struck, according to my husband. Whatever. The man's a genius with food!

I'm so glad you got to eat at Wood Fire Grill. The Chef's tasting menu sounds SO good. I love ordering the Chef's tasting menu b/c I end up trying new dishes that I never would have ordered.
