As I mentioned before I have some catching up to do on my favorites bits of advice from Tim Gunn. Here are some more:
- Each Sunday take a moment to go through your purse or bag and remove what you don't need. That way you'll start the new week lighter, literally and perhaps metaphorically, as well!
- The narrower the heel of a shoe, the dressier the shoe will read. Something to keep in mind when putting looks together.
- Nothing is worse than receiving a spectacular last-minute invitation and realizing that you have no way to carry what you need for an evening of successful swanning. (love this word) Be on the safe side and buy a simple black evening clutch.
- If a look works for you, for goddness' sake, stick with it. Trends are interesting to read about but should never dictate the choices you make. Does Anna Wintour follow all those hair and makeup articles Vogue runs?
- Why not rehearse your outfit the weekend before a special event? You'll be more relaxed when dressing for the real thing.
- If summer frizz arrives when you are away from home, a tiny bit of hand cream will tame it.
- Just because a pant some with pockets does not mean they must remain. Take your purchase to the tailor and have the pockets removed for a cleaner, more flattering look.*
- A strapless bra that stays up is an essential part of your lingerie drawer. It should not flatten your bust or leave you tug, tug, tugging it up all day.
- Just because you can't see yourself from the back does not mean that others can't either. Always do a final check over your shoulder before leaving the house.**
*Lord knows, I have done this plenty of times when pockets "pooch" out on the sides.
**If only everyone was taught this rule. Sigh.
