It's not a new book, but I spotted it while at Barnes & Noble buying gifts for my niece. (She's the cutest little book worm you've ever seen!) The summary on the back made it sound interesting but whooo boy! I'm hooked! I gave up on another book (and I hate to give up on books, but it just wasn't holding my attention) and decided to start this one, called Molokai.
It's the story of Rachel, a Hawaiian girl in Honolulu who is diagnosed with leprosy at the age of six. She's taken from her family to live (or die as was usually the case) at the leper colony on the island of Molokai.
I've only read Part One, which was just four chapters (all of it on Tuesday night as I was already crying and had to get to a good stopping point), but already I can tell this author is such a great storyteller. Rarely am I sucked into a book that fast and left thinking about it the next day. No kidding, if it were a Saturday I would still be in bed reading.
I'll be posting a full review after I finish it. Which will be in the next two weeks I'm sure. (I wasn't able to read much last night as I had a cooking class, which makes for a long day, but I know I'll be curled up reading this weekend.)
