Please Don't Lose This Letter

Dear Sara,

Please read this note the next time you are tempted to purchase a pair of pants.

You have just recently dropped off four pairs of pants and one skirt at the tailor for alterations. Each pair of pants needed to be taken in at the waist and the skirt as well.

By this point in your life you should be well aware that you have been overly blessed in the hip department and you have a well defined waist. (Translation: you could shoot hoops down the back of my pants with all the gaping going on back there.)

You have just committed yourself to spending an extra $20 to $25 per item to have these garments fitted to you. Also, why do you keep buying things that are lined? Oh yes, because they are all wool...

And don't get me wrong, I firmly believe in the self esteem raising power of clothing that fits properly, but sometimes it also gets very expensive and I can completely relate to those poor souls who end up on What Not to Wear. (By the way, do they get to have their garments altered to their figures on WNTW? If not, they totally should. Right?)

So, while, yes, it is more cost effective to have your existing pants altered after having lost a few pounds, you'd better keep those pounds off. You hear me?!? We can't be buying more pants in a month. Okay?

With love,
Me

I get most of my pants altered someway -- I have a big butt/hips and a smaller waist -- I've just accepted is a the cost of buying clothes that FIT. I love how on WNTW they are always telling people to do ALTERATIONS!!! I made me less alteration-adverse.
