Every year I struggle with how to spend Christmas money I receive. On the one hand, I am always tempted to just save it, but that's sort of boring. I know that the giver would want me to spend it on something I want, but might not otherwise buy myself, right?
So, this year I had been contemplating purchasing an eReader. I thought that I wanted the Kindle and that was that. However, over Christmas I played with a friends Nook Color and liked it as well. But, then I got to thinking that if I was going to get a Nook Color I might as well spend a bit more and get an iPad, right?
But, then again, I knew I was getting a bit of eye strain when I would read on my computer so for a true reader I wanted a black and white version. And being a devoted iPhone and iPod lover I'm kind of (read: very much so) hooked on the touch screen aspect of things.
That's why I went with a Nook. Yes, just the black and white. And, I love it! In fact, my husband loves it too and has been hogging it just a bit...*
I also knew that I needed to get my new toy a case to protect it. And, I had seen some cases that made it feel a bit more like holding a book. After spending a bunch of time in Barnes & Noble with Brittney, I picked out this one. (And, let me just say it was a tough choice since all the cases I really liked were like $80!)
It's a nice red pebbled leather and it has a very handy pocket inside. The pocket came in very handy when I traveled with it. It was sort of like tucking your boarding pass into your book...
I should mention that another big reason I went with the Nook was the ability to "check out" books from our public library. I've found that I read even faster on my Nook and could easily spend a small fortune on books if I were to buy every one that I wanted to read. This saves me quite a bit!

You can check out books from the library? That's really cool!
Awesome! I've been toying with getting one, whenever I have extra money to splurge. I didn't realize you could check books out of the library, that's awesome!
I have the Nook too and love it. In fact, I'm crawling under the covers now to read :)
I've had a nook since Sept and I LOVE it. I have read so many books. I think I need to give myself a budget on how many I can buy a month; it's getting a bit ridiculous.
