Hair stylist dilemna

My stylist switched salons. Which is not good.

Wait. I should say, the salon she was working in closed and merged with another. That's much farther away. Like, an additional hour round trip away.

I have a standing appointment every other Wednesday at 6pm. Yes, I know that seems like a lot, but it's a cut once a month and a neck trim in between which takes about five minutes. And, my hair grows crazy fast. And short hairstyles are a lot of maintenance.

My stylist has also told me her hours are changing a bit, but that she'd be happy to stay late for me since she knows I get there on time.

So... the new salon has called me three times (in two weeks) to confirm my appointment at 5:30. Each time I politely tell them that my standing appointment is at 6pm and that we already have an agreement she'll stay for me. I mean the salon is open until nine.

I get off of work at 5pm. And, did I mention I'm non-exempt so I'm hourly, which means I can't leave early? Well, I am.

So, I get another call today that they'd like to know if I can come in a bit early since she gets off at 6:45. I am about to go off on them. As far as first impressions go, they've totally ruined theirs.

So, my point is, and thankfully for you I do have a point, would it be wrong of me to suggest seeing her outside of the salon? Perhaps my home? Have any of you ever done that? Do you know a stylist? Is that unethical in terms of stylist code of conduct?

I really like my stylist and don't want to stop seeing her, but I can already tell I'm not going to like this new salon...

P.S. Don't forget about Comments for a Cause!

That is so frustrating that they are not "with the program" about your appointment time, which you have agreed upon with your stylist! I hope you are able to work something out. Btw, I sent out recipe stuff today. Thanks for including me!

How frustrating! Maybe just ask your stylist what works best for her and give her a few options. I don't think that would be offensive at all! I think she would be flattered that you didn't want to stop seeing her.

How frustrating! I went through something similar when my stylist retired and sold his salon to another stylist.

I did transistion to another stylist...who totally butchered my baby fine hair.

So I ran to my friend's sister in law to get it fixed...and while she works full time at her own salon - she's happy to do my hair in the comfort of my home. :-)

You should explain to your stylist that while you love her you don't like the salon she's with. See what she says from there. Put the ball into her court. Good luck girl! XOXO

Did you decide what to do about your stylist? I hope you have had a good week. TGIF.
