Five Love Languages

Last month, my husband and I went to a program at our church on the Five Love Languages. We had read the book shortly after becoming engaged. Basically, I read the book to him while we were driving to Louisiana. We each took the quiz and read more about our personal love languages.
kind of

For those unfamiliar, the languages are:
Words of Affirmation
Quality Time
Receiving Gifts
Acts of Service
Physical Touch

My love language was a combination of Acts of Service and Quality Time, while his is Acts of Service. The two-session seminar was very insightful and sparked a good discussion between us.

And, while we do have a very open and content relationship I've noticed him making more effort on the small honey-do's front. And, it means the world to me; it truly is the little things!

Have you read the Five Love Languages? There's even a book for singles that I read when I was single and it was great too.

I read it! I liked it - wish my husband had time (or would make time) to read it, I think it could do us some good.

I read the version for singles a couple years ago. (I'm assuming the marrieds version is about the same message.) I'm Physical Touch & Quality Time; my husband is Quality Time (physical touch is at the bottom for him - ha!) I thought it was very interesting in discussing how you give and receive love; I hadn't thought about that before.

I hadn't heard about that book before. I may need to check it out!

I have heard this book recommended before, but I've never read it. I am adding it to my list now. Thanks for the reminder!

I really need to read this book - I was just noticing this weekend how my husband values these little things I do for him and how it shows him I care, while I actually need him to do much different things for me to feel the same way. This would be a great idea for our next raod trip to LA. Thanks for suggesting this!
