When Rue La La announced their sale I got very excited and marked my calendar to see if they had any of the Wynnewood pattern in the items they were offering. Low and behold, they did. I ordered six of the wine glasses to build my collection.
Last Monday they arrived. And, they are not the same size as the glasses I already have. My husband thinks I should return them. I'm hesitant though since I know I'll only get credit back from Rue La La. I was thinking about listing them on eBay, but then a few formal crystal pieces I couldn't return anywhere have not sold. I'm also thinking about keeping them and having red wine and white wine glasses. (I like this last idea least, to be honest.)
What would you do? I did get a good price on them, half off the retail, but I know I can't put that money towards buying the correct size either.
For your reference, it's the two wine glasses in this photo. We registered for twelve goblets (the larger wine glass) and twelve beverage. The smaller is the wine glass that Rue La La had.

I'd probably return them and use the credit for clothes or something, haha. For our wedding, we accidentally registered for both the red wine and white wine glasses, instead of the red wine and the beverage glasses. We ended up exchanging so that we now have the red wine and the beverage glasses. I figured that having three kinds of glasses was kind of overkill, and that the beverage and larger wine glasses would get the most use.
Ebay is worth a shot, I guess, but you never know if they will sell or if you'll get your money's worth. How long do you have before you have to make the return? Can you try to list them, and if they don't sell, return them? It does suck that you just can't get your money back, but surely something else will come along on Ruelala that you simply must have! :)
I would keep them. You just never know when you'll be able to use them. That's my opinion at least...
I'm so leery of selling things on eBay. I've sold a lot of my stuff on there - clothes, books, etc - but I've been burned by people saying that they were damaged. I really like your idea of having red and white wine glasses. They're so pretty! I'm sure that you'd find a way to use them, and crystal always looks nice!
Wow, they are pretty! I'd probably keep them and have two sets of glasses. But, if there are other useful things coming up on RueLaLa, return them and use the credit. :-)
I would probably keep them and have white and red glasses.
I would keep the glasses. I think it looks nice to mix sizes on your table (makes it look like you've inherited different pieces from various wealthy relatives - ha!). Your pattern is beautiful, by the way.
I hear so many tales of brides no longer registering for formal china, silver and crystal, and it makes me sad. I'd delighted that there are still people like you with old-fashioned good taste!
