Cleaning house

Today, I went through my Twitter followers and purged. It felt so good! I mean, honestly, why do these people want to follow my tweets?

Ambit Energy, iPod club, Compare Shipping, etc...

Really?

I've gone back and forth with my profile being private vs. being public. Initially, I left it public so people could see my @replies.

Are you on Twitter? How are you set up?

Mine is public...but not that many people follow me. If I start getting lots of random companies and such - I'll probably go private. :-)

I'm public, but I definitely clean out my followers on occasion. I tweeted like, twice, about Etsy stuff and all of a sudden, every Etsy seller in the world (ok, not all, but a ton) started following me. And much as love Etsy, I had no clue who these sellers were. And all they tweeted were Etsy links. And they weren't shops I was interested in.

So yeah, it happens. You tweet ONE little thing, and it's like some spambot is searching for that ONE key word so they can follow you. Just purge every once in a while.
