Show Us Your Life - How I Met My Husband

I thought I'd participate in Show Us Your Life - How I Met My Husband

The day was October 28, 2006. We both attended a Halloween party of mutual friends. And, I almost didn't go.* The costume I had planned to wear proved to be be way too trashy for my comfort level and I didn't think I had anything else. My best friend told me to, "just throw something on and come over." So, I did.

Nobody introduced us, we just started talking (likely while waiting in the beer line). After the party was winding down we all headed to a local favorite, Ol' South Pancake House where if memory serves me right I was a total fool and quite drunk.

I do distinctly remember that I rode in his car with him to the diner. What i don't remember is leaving part of my costume in his car. He and everyone else, for that matter think I did it on purpose so he would HAVE to call me. I honestly think it was just happenstance.

Our first date was on Halloween, that following Tuesday. We went to a Ben Folds concert in Fort Worth.

Our first photo was taken on St. Patrick's Day. (No, we didn't spend those first holidays together. He went home to Baton Rouge to see his parents.)
Our first trip together was to Las Vegas, baby! I had never been; it was a great success that we could travel together in my opinion.**

The proposal was on November 10, 2007 in South Beach. Yes, it was a surprise and yes, I'm so glad that it was. Did he still pick out the right ring (which is why I think a lot of girls don't want to be surprised)? Absolutely! I couldn't have done better myself.

And, the wedding was on August 30, 2008!
*Isn't that always the story? The girl had to get drug out by her friends? Or she almost didn't go? Single girls, take note, you'll never meet anyone while sitting at home.
**I do have a funny story about getting ready for this trip. Remind me to post about it.

What a cute story :-) I agree that being able to travel together says a lot about whether or not you'll make it as a couple. My husband and I drove 14 hours to his home in Georgia, then turned around and drove back 4 days later. I remember thinking, "If we still like each other after this, then that's a good sign!"
