An Open Letter to Car Pool Drivers

Dear car pool drivers,
As a resident in a home near an elementary school I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of a few things.

First, you may, or may not have, noticed people live in this neighborhood where your child’s school is located. These people generally have jobs. Now, I can’t speak for everyone, only my family, but our jobs generally have a specific start time each morning.

Second, these residents generally drive to their jobs, thus needing to turn onto certain streets located in said neighborhood within which we live. I’m not sure how your neighborhood operates, but generally it’s not considered neighborly or friendly to block said persons from turning onto a through street. In fact, I would go so far as to say it’s rude to block them in. Especially, when you are already in a long line of cars and you clearly see residents needing to turn. (That thing that blinks on the side of a car, it’s our way of saying we’d like to get through.)

Lastly, when we turn in front of you to get through the never ending line of cars, when there is not another car coming from the other direction, please do not inch up as if you are going to hit us and wave your arms and make gestures (aren’t there children in your car?). It just doesn’t start our day off right and we could all do with a bit less road rage in the mornings. We would all like to get to our destinations without being threatened of damage to ourselves and our vehicles, yes?

Thank you for your time,
A resident who was rudely gestured to this morning for merely wanting to turn left

that is SO annoying! yikes. Your neighborhood association should write a letter to the school.

I'm not sure I could deal with the crazy school traffic, but you made me laugh!

My morning nightmare is the high school kids who continue to walk in front of cars every morning. One of these days, someone is going to get hurt....
