Easier Said Than Done

It’s been four weeks to the day from my last neurologist appointment. At that appointment I got really lectured about caffeine and its effects on me and my Migraines. I gave up caffeine that day in order to give it an honest effort to help my head.

That lasted one week. I couldn’t do it. Every day at 12:30 I would get a pounding headache and need a prescription pill. (I know, maybe I shouldn’t have gone cold turkey like that, but I was trying, OK?)

So, after the week of agony, I decided to try a little experiment. It goes like this: the only caffeine I get is in the morning in the form of my coffee. That’s it. No other caffeinated beverages for the rest of the day. And, you know what? It’s really been helping. I haven’t had a Coke Zero in four weeks, or iced tea, or anything else with caffeine after I’ve had my coffee for the day.

That’s not to say I’ve been headache free, but I was looking at my headache calendar (those of you with Migraine know exactly what I’m talking about) and the last three weeks have seen an improvement. I’m hoping it stays this way…

I am glad your experiment is going well!! I am like you-it would be so hard to give up caffeine.
