OK, this is the last Tim Gunn post (for a few weeks at least). I've posted more of his sage advice here and here.
- The feeling of having nothing to wear arises from a discrepancy between your perception of the image your clothing projects and the idealized image you'd like to project in a given situation. The goal then, is to maximize the correspondence between what you feel conveys the proper image and the items you actually own.
- If you have to ask if an item is a dress or a top, it is always a top. Please wear pants.
- If it pulls, gaps, or rides up, your top is too small.
- Every closet needs at least two day dresses for those mornings when separates pose too much of a challenge. Although there are few things easier than throwing on a dress, a dress communicates that you have made an effort.
- Hip bones should be concealed by clothing unless you are at the beach.
- Do you pay attention to your hands? Adding a new ring or shifting what you wear every day is a way to keep things interesting. Hand cream with sunblock is also an excellent idea.
- Why not have a lip balm in every bag?*
- Before leaving the house in a skirt with a slit, go through a range of motions to check that you are not revealing more of yourself than intended. Be sure to sit, stand and bend at the knees.**
*I know I do, especially in the winter.
**Personally, I think this needs to be done before you buy the skirt, but that's just me.

I adore these tips - thanks for sharing all of them! I have lip balm in every purse, ever room, every drawer - it's a sickness!
Number 2 made me laugh out loud!
I LOVE Tim Gunn. He is really the only reason I am watching Project Runway this season. The challenges have been boring and the talent is mediocre at best. But Tim is FABULOUS!
