Over the summer I was in the habit of sharing some of my favorite Tim Gunn advice from my desk calendar with you. Well, somehow the calendar got stuffed away and I just came across it again. So, I've caught up to today's date and I'll be sharing some wise words of fashion with you through October.
- Rather than pack away ALL your summer things, remove what you didn't wear and donate it. Why let those unloved shorts languish another season?*
- As autumn approaches, get out your boots and analyze where the tops hit your legs. Are they slimming? Often a boot hits and mid-calf is not flattering and should only be worn under a pant.
- If your heels are high and you need to get somewhere fast, bring a pair of ballet flats in your bag. You'll be able to skim along in them and change back to the heels before you arrive at your destination.
- Having a kit at work to deal with unforeseen clothing disasters is an excellent idea. It should contain a stain stick, a lint brush, a safety pin, a travel sewing kit, and an extra button or two.**
- A selection of simple, unadorned tanks in neutral tones is a necessary part of the chic wardrobe. They can provide coverage under sheer tops, function as a blouse under a sweater, or peek out from a wrap dress.
- Many wrap dresses become dangerously low-cut as you wear them. You can spend the day adjusting and retying, or you can simply wear a camisole under the dress. When evening arrives, remove the camisole and go forth.
*I did this one on Saturday while going through my sweaters in the hopes of Fall approaching.
**I use mine all the time, especially the lint brush.
Carry on!
P.S. Be sure to check out my giveaway... good stuff here!

Good tips! I already have an emergency kit at work and a stash of neutral camis. :-)
