Those of you who follow me on Twitter know I attempted pita bread from scratch last night. I've been dying to make homemade bread and now that I have my lovely mixer I thought I'd better get going.
So, off to the interwebs to find some inspiration. After finding numerous recipes for French, Italian and my personal favorite sourdough, I knew I needed to start off with something a bit less challenging. (I didn't want to get discouraged and give up, right?) Well, after going through my reader at lunch and seeing Mrs. Jetplane's recipe for Greek Salad I got a craving. I make Greek salad from time to time, but never with homemade pita bread and hummus.
So, after perusing various sites I came across The Fresh Loaf and their recipe and step by step photo directions of making the bread. Jackpot! This was so easy to make and turned out very well in my opinion. My husband thought it was good (and, he's a foodie so he can be a bit tough to impress when it comes to food) so that's encouragement enough to try something a bit more difficult.
And below is my recipe for hummus:
Hummus
1 (15.5 ounce) cans garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
2 tablespoons tahini
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
Olive oil to taste
Place garbanzo beans in a food processor and blend into a spreadable paste. Mix in lemon juice, garlic, tahini and crushed red pepper. Blend until smooth, using more lemon juice if consistency is too thick. Garnish with a drizzle of good olive oil.
Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to try it!
I would make this BUT for the fact that I would eat the entire recipe myself. Hummus is like crack!
yum!
