I slept on the couch last night. No, we didn't have a fight and neither one of us is sick. I had to leave the bedroom to get some sleep.
You see, my husband is a snorer. He knows this, it's not like I'm revealing anything new here. I often shove him to get him to move and not snore, but it only lasts a few minutes. And I, apparently am a light sleeper.
He came out to the living room and just said, "Was I that bad?" Well, yes, otherwise I would still be in bed. I wasn't trying to make him feel bad, but it was the truth. (And, I am incapable of lying (even to be nice) when I first wake up.)
This morning we were talking and he asked when I sleep really well. I thought about it for a few minutes and I realized it's when he's traveling. Now, don't get me wrong, I'd much rather he be home and not out of town, but I do sleep better when I'm not interrupted by chainsaws.
So, then he goes on to say, "You knew this before we got married." I could only follow up with, "but before we got married I had five nights of good sleep at my place to catch up." I'm really not trying to make him feel bad, but I'm tired. Know what I'm saying?
So, does anyone have any suggestions for us? We've tried ear plugs for me, nose strips for him, both at the same time, me going to bed first to try and be asleep before him, etc. I really don't want to be one of those couples who have separate bedrooms.
The quest for sleep continues...

Ugh that sucks! My fiance is a snorer at times and it bothers me enough to have to push him occasionally but usually he stops after a time or two. I know what you mean though, getting good sleep can be hard! I've been struggling with getting good sleep lately too. Except mine is the opposite, I sleep better with him here WITH me and terribly when he isn't here. I wish I had some advice. Maybe try googling it?
Oh no! That totally stinks. I am so glad Garth isn't a snorer, I would have to invest in ear plugs!
I totally can empathize with you, Jeremy is a snorer too, but we solved the problem because I'm a heavy sleeper! I'm sorry Sara! I have no solutions :(
we bought a fan which gives more white noise.
This is a problem for us too. We bought a special pillow at Brookstone for my husband that is supposed to eliminate snoring. With that combined with nose strips, it really does seem to help. I recall it was pretty expensive, but worth it.
